Creative apps for the
iPhone and iPod touch.

Now available in iTunes.

Bloom is an endlass music machine, a music box for the 21st century. You can play it, or you watch it play itself. - Brian Eno

I can hear clicking sounds under iOS 4.3

Unfortunately iOS 4.3 contains a bug in its audio code (specifically OpenAL), which is introducing a small click at the beginning of some sounds. This has affected all four Opal apps (and many other music apps). Updates for Bloom and Bloom HD fixing this problem are now available from the App Store, and an update for Trope has now been submitted. We expect to have Air updated shortly. We apologise for any inconvenience.

My iPhone / iPod touch can't run 4.3, so I can't access version 2.1 of Bloom

We had to update Bloom rather swiftly to work around the bug mentioned above. Unfortunately, the fix only worked on iOS 4.3, and would not run on older devices or the Verizon iPhone.

Bloom version 2.1.1 is now available through the App Store as a free update, and is compatible with devices running iOS 3.1.3 upwards.

Bloom is not producing any audio

We've seen one comment on this problem on iTunes, but have not been able to reproduce it. If you experience this, please let us know. If you are on a iOS device that supports multitasking, try suspending the application and launching it again. Restarting the iPhone may also fix the problem.

What's the difference between Bloom and Trope?

Bloom is played by tapping on the screen and triggering individual bell-like notes. Trope is played by moving your finger around the screen, creating more sustained notes. The sound gets brighter going from left to right, and more 'pure' as you move up or down away from your original position.

What do Bloom and Trope's moods do?

Each mood is assosciated with a different colour scheme, key and mode.

Will you be supporting background playing under iOs 4.3?

Bloom and Bloom HD now have an extra 'Multitasking' option, and an update for Trope with Multitasking is awaiting approval. We hope to include multitasking with the next update for Air. Please bear with us, as this is not as trivial a change as it may seem!

The App crashes on startup

Try restarting the device. To turn it off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off. To turn the device back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
